This next blog is going to be about how the “Items of Interest” were completely unnecessary. If you don’t agree... I don’t care.
Items of Interest came into effect pretty late into the school year. Mr. Currin kind of just introduced it out of nowhere without even warning us that there was going to be another assignment that we would need to complete by the end of the week. You might be thinking to yourself, “Man, this Mr. Currin guy sounds like a real jerk,” which would make you wrong. Mr. Currin is a cool guy, but stick with me.
The main purpose of the Items of Interest are to keep us up to date on what is going on with the world and making us make a 50 word response to an article of Mr. Currin’s choosing. I think we should be able to choose an article, since it would make the task much more exciting. I don’t like choosing what to write about in a blog, but it is easier to find an interesting article than think of a good blog topic.
My word of advice to Mr. Currin is to let the students choose a popular article out of the New York Times or something of the sort, because it would make it interesting for everybody. The kids get a choice on which one to write about, and Mr. Currin gets to learn about a lot of the things going on in the world.
It may seem like I am trying to eliminate every aspect of work in Online Publishing, but that isn’t the point. Mr. Currin needs to think of more fun assignments that we can do that we are genuinely interested in so we can strive to write our best. But what do I know? I’m just a student.
